Counselling provides a safe place for young people to talk about and explore those aspects of their life that they may feel uneasy sharing with their friends or family. It can be a means of problem solving, or of finding ways to manage ongoing conditions or circumstances.
A young person may enter therapy because of life changing circumstances such as:
- anxiety
- depression
- obsessive compulsive disorder
- life crisis or trauma
- low self esteem and confidence
- eating disorders
- anger management
- relationships
- family change
- bereavement
- school difficulties, exam pressure and stress
- bullying
- abuse
- living with ill health or caring for someone with a chronic condition
Alternatively, they may simply benefit from greater self expression, increased confidence and social skills.
